Open Source

1. Software developed in cooperation between programmers which may be used as is or modified to the users requirements as with Linux.
2. Software developed under the GNU license with the freedom to use and change without restrictions.
3. The opposite of Microsoft's development and distribution strategy (who does not protect your software freedom or rights.)

The basic idea behind open source is very simple. When programmers can read, redistribute, and modify the source code for a piece of software, the software evolves. People improve it, people adapt it, people fix bugs. And this can happen at a speed that, if one is used to the slow pace of conventional software development, seems astonishing. Whether a techie/hacker, a businessperson, or a customer, you'll win with open source software. It doesn't mean free as much as it means freedom to control your own destiny.

The core code for this site was developed under an open source license. We took the code and added the functionality that many businesses and organizations need to create and maintain a web site. Similar commercially based site development tools can cost as much as $50,000.

When we provide you with RapidWeb we provide it under the terms of GNU license which gives you the right to access the source code and modify it as you see fit. Please read this license and compare to the licenses under which you operate other software that you have obtained.
