1938 - Louis J. Blumenthal came to Olean and opened a novelty store selling cigarettes, candy, magazines and operating slot machines.

1945 - Jack Blumenthal came to Olean after WWII to join his father in business. The store added toys and cameras.

1948 - Louis Blumenthal formed a partnership with Sam Arnson and built two stores on North Union Street. Today these stores are incorporated with an adjoining store and form the camera division of Blumenthal's.

1972 - Howard enters the business with his father and grandfather.

January 9 - The Honda Shop, behind the North Union Street store, burns down. Blumenthals opens a new Honda Shop on East State Road. Founder, Louis Blumenthal, dies.

1979 - Michael enters the business with his father, Jack, and his brother, Howard. The company begins selling microcomputer systems like Bell & Howell Apple Computers.

1983 - Blumenthal's buys the former "Pick-ups" Restaurant on North Union Street and begins renovation of a new computer center.

November 6 - Grand Opening of Blumenthal's Computer Center for Home, Business and Education. 1985 - Blumenthal's Camera division adds $100,000 Fuji Mini Lab 27 for One-Hour Color Processing Service.

Custom Photo Lab is added to offer custom darkroom services for color prints, slides; B&W processing, video transfer, video and audio tape duplicating. 1986 - Original store is remodeled into Stereo/Video Product Center. Video division expands to include TVs, VCRs, Camcorders and video transfer service.

1987 - Honda Shop is remodeled and the Gun Shop is moved there from the North Union Street location.

1989 - Blumenthal's Computers joins a national network of independent computer dealers and becomes Blumenthal's Connecting Point Computer Center.

1991 - Blumenthal's Honda Shop buys Southern Tier Cycles and expands its sales and service with the Suzuki line of motorcycles.

1993 - Honda Shop is sold to concentrate on Camera/Photographic/Computer and Repair sales.

1994 - Web Site Hosting and Development Department is formed.
